Sponsor needed 🐾
Our rescue partners in Chetumal just picked up this homeless girl 😭 My heart is breaking that she got to this point. Someone has volunteered to protect her for the night and she will go the vet tomorrow. We will support her vet bills and give her whatever she needs, but we can’t do it alone. To help –

Welcome Poppy 🌺

Welcome Poppy 🌺 Last week Michelle found this girl in the middle of the highway in Tabasco. She is named Poppy for her antics during the hour and half Michelle spent trying to convince her to get in the car. Apparently she kept disappearing and popping up somewhere else (I have totally seen this – it’s a thing here – like whack-a-mole). Poppy took a chance and trusted the nice human lady. After a visit to our vet she landed here at the recuse. She is currently eating like a champ but is still skin and bones. Her fur is missing and she’s in quarantine for at least the next few weeks while her meds kick in. And by quarantine we mean sleeping in the guest casista. On the bed 😂 She is so sweet. Welcome baby girl. We’re so glad you’re here ❤️

Maddie and Rico were adopted! TOGETHER ❤️

Maddie and Rico were adopted! TOGETHER ❤️ We are back in Merida this week and went to Walmart last night to buy more dog food (of course). We sat smiling for a moment in the exact spot where we found these two pups just a month earlier. Occasionally rescue works out exactly the way you hope it will. So when it does, we thank our lucky stars and try to hold onto that feeling. Happy lives my sweet babies!!! You deserve all the love in the world!

“Omg that dog is gonna walk into the street!”
“OMG that car is gonna hit him!!”
“OMG STOP!”
The driver slammed on his breaks at the last second. This little guy has no idea how close he almost came to dying. I ran out into the street and scooped him up. His stomach is so bloated that I thought he was a pregnant she. And the rest of him is bones. We’re working with a local rescuer in Merida to get him to the vet and find him a temp place to stay. Will update soon. Xoxo

We are so lucky to find such awesome homes for our kids. Below is from Canela’s dad, Scott Damm

Buena noches, Mis amores! It is I, Canela!!!

I am so happy to be posting once again. Did you miss me?

My assistant (Dad) has been lazy, just posting this now.Oy!

Wednesday was a very, very special day for me. It was my AdoptaBirthday!!! It has been a year already since my Papa asked if I wanted to stay at the end of the foster month and of course I said ‘YESSSS’! To celebrate, we had empenadas, tacos, churros and cake. Yes, there was cake! Dad got me a new pair of earrings and a matching broach. I like the shiny things! It has been a wonderful year here at Casa Damm. My sister Bella and I are besties while I get to be bossy to my brother Barclay. He’s a big boy at double my weight but I keep him in line, no problem. I call the day my AdoptaBirthday because it is both my adoption anniversary and my birthday because no one knows when the real one is (so I can lie about
my age!). Abeula’s birthday was also the 26th of the month. Here are a few photos for you until I write again. Smooches!!!

Flaca (skinny)

This is Flaca (skinny). She came to live with us a few months ago. She hated us. A lot. We respected her honesty. She returned to her original rescuer and is smiling again. Flaca has heart disease and was feeling pretty yucky lately. She went for bloodwork and tested positive for ehrlicia. With antibiotics she should be well soon. Despite how she feels about us, we were happy to sponsor her vet visit 🤕👌🥰
