Removing the bullet is too risky, so the vets have decided to leave it for now. He’s gaining weight, getting stronger and will be neutered as soon as he is a bit healthier. We asked if he was in pain, and the answer was no As soon as he’s released he has an awesome mom waiting to adopt him.
Little man Max should be strong enough for heartworm treatment soon, and Alice re-tested negative for heartworm She is healthy now, but wait. Every time she is close to being ready for adoption, she finds some way to get sick. We are onto you Alice xoxoThanks Universum K-9 for the care
We dropped off dog food to Adolfo and found him caring for 8 little baby kittens. Soon we will return with food for them too. Adolfo is all heart For years we have been trying to spay/neuter the cats, but they always disappear. Next time we will trap them
Next we dropped off food for the military dogs (No pics allowed but I snuck some of the puppies) They had 9 babies but one already died. Everyone was dewormed. We got them to agree to let us s/n babies before they give them away. Working to get parents s/n too.
Thank you Casa de la Cultura de Mahahual for your endless dedication to keeping people and animals fed during the pandemic. Your group makes the world a better place. We are happy to support dog and cat food for the animals of Mahahual
Friends, the situation is very sad here. Casa de la Cultura Mahahual is a volunteer run organization that provides pantry items, take out meals, medicines and dog/cat food to local families who are suffering due to the covid-19 crisis. Without tourism there is no work and people are hurting. The group relies % on donations and has been working hard for months. They are superheroes
Please check out the link for pics of their work and dogs we are helping to feed
Me: I’ll just move the blankets off the floor while I clean.
Duke: Bunk bed!!!
Thank you to everyone who donated to help us sponsor 35 spay & neuter surgeries last weekend ($550 usd) Infinite thanks to Dr. Fernando for more than 10 years of dedication to reducing homelessness in Q. Roo. We are happy to have sponsored 23 surgeries for Perros Olvidados de Bacalar. This group is trying to organize regular campaigns, and we have offered to contribute monthly to their work. Check out their page and the read about their initiative. The homeless dog and cat situation in Bacalar is truly heartbreaking Rescues are stronger when we support each other’s work

If you are an animal rescuer or have you ever rescued an animal from the streets, this text is for you:”When I gave up, I threw myself into this corner and waited for death to come. But before giving up on me, I tried. I ran to a restaurant, to order something to eat … I received a broom. Before giving up on me, I tried to go to bed at the entrance of a pharmacy, because I had been in the sun for a long time and wanted to rest … They threw a bucket of cold water at me. Before giving up on me, I saw my ex-owner again and threw a party for her … She kicked me.Before giving up on me, I thought I had made human friends … but they beat me up.Before giving up on me, I tried to ask for help in the chicken shop, where a beautiful grilled chicken was spinning, and my stomach was screaming … But they threw me out. Before giving up on me, I tried to appear visible to passers-by, but they didn’t see me. So tired, psychologically and physically hurt and very hungry, I gave up. I threw myself here, in a corner away from humans because I’m already tired of feeling pain. I’m scared. I want to leave soon … But then you came. You ignored my grunts, you understood my pain, you respected my space. You didn’t know where to take me, or with what money you were going to help me. I showed you my teeth in an effort to defend myself against you, because I am very afraid of humans, but you said in a baby voice: “everything will be fine now, little one.”Not for me! I got tired! I do not want to fight anymore. But you gave me a bath, you gave me medicine, you gave me an injection and you stayed awake with me. You fed me, you kissed me and you made me think that suddenly, I could change my mind. You came and you didn’t go.You rescued me from the streets and gave me a chance to be happy. In fact, you fought for me, more than myself. Who are you? What eyes are those that you have, that see what the rest of humanity ignores. How to thank you?I wish you don’t blame yourself if I didn’t live long. I am very grateful to you for giving me love in my last moments. You have angel eyes. Thanks for watching Now I am in a place where I feel no more pain, hunger, or cold, and nobody mistreats anyone. I met all the little puppies and kittens you already took care of. You are the angel of the strays. Thank you”
