She was not hit by a car as we initially assumed. Rather, she is paralyzed – presumably by a toxin. Yesterday she was unable to hold up her head to eat. Today she is looking at us with the biggest, most beautiful eyes Our vet predicts that little by little she will improve and begin to walk. She is lactating, but we don’t know if she recently gave birth or had a miscarriage. She is also heartworm positive. With all the sorrow I feel looking at her, I am eternally grateful that she is sleeping like a baby, wrapped in a blanket at doggy daycare right at this very moment. It is pouring rain here. The thought of her on the street is too much for me to even imagine.
