Meet the Ones Who Stayed
Not every dog that comes into our care will find a traditional forever home. Some, because of their age, medical needs, disabilities or past trauma, will spend the rest of their lives at our sanctuary.
These dogs aren't waiting for adoption. They've already found their forever home at Beach Dog Rescue. By sponsoring the Forever Pack, you're helping us keep the promise that they'll be cared for and loved for the rest of their lives.
Mocho
A local legend living his well-earned retirement.
Mocho is one of Beach Dog Rescue's original dogs and has been part of our family since the very beginning. Before that, he lived on the beaches of Mexico, where local fishermen insist he once fought off a jaguar. We can't verify the story... but we're certainly not going to argue with Mocho. These days, his adventures mostly involve long naps with his friends and we're making sure his retirement is every bit as legendary as his past.
Samantha
Independent, opinionated and completely unapologetic about it.
Samantha was abandoned as a puppy alongside her brother, who sadly didn't survive. She lives with thyroid and skin conditions that require ongoing care but it's her independent spirit that truly makes her a sanctuary dog. She prefers sleeping under the stars, loves roaming the property and has a well-known soft spot for our groundskeeper. We stopped trying to convince Samantha to live any other way a long time ago. The sanctuary is exactly where she's meant to be.
Javi
His house. His rules.
Javi was living outside a beachside restaurant until someone loaded him into the back of a pickup truck and abandoned him in a remote area. We searched until we found him and brought him to safety. Although he was later adopted, he eventually returned to the sanctuary, where he's happiest. Javi is our resident curmudgeon and here, we happily let him think he's in charge. Some dogs need a family. Javi needed a sanctuary and a job title.
Luca
Proof that joy doesn't depend on looking perfect.
When Luca arrived, severe skin disease left her almost completely hairless and she spent months in and out of the hospital fighting to recover. Since then, she's also overcome TVT and a mammary tumour. Her body continues to need lifelong medical care but you'd never know it from her attitude. She lives for mealtime, playtime and every bit of attention she can get. We'll spend the rest of her life making sure she never has to fight another battle alone.
Eduardo
A gentleman with very particular dinner preferences.
Life on the streets left Eduardo with a fractured jaw, missing teeth and chronic pain. Now in hospice care, our goal is to make every day as comfortable as possible. He insists on homemade meals served warm, and honestly, we wouldn't dream of serving them any other way. He's already found his forever family in us and we'll make sure he feels loved every single day.
Chato
Not difficult. Just misunderstood.
After being hit by a motorcycle, Chato was left frightened and in pain. Fear made veterinary visits incredibly difficult, and those experiences have stayed with him. He still needs patient, experienced handling, but here, no one expects him to be different than he is. The sanctuary gives Chato something every dog deserves: a place where he can finally feel safe.

When you sponsor a permanent resident, you're making a monthly donation that helps provide food, medical care, medications, enrichment and everything they need to live safe, comfortable and loved lives at our sanctuary.
